This series is written by Vince Gilligan: the writer of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Personally I never saw either but to some people it might be relevant.

Now obviously I don't want to go too much in detail (I can't really with 7 episodes on hand) but damn. The idea behind this series is that one day every people's individuality just ceases to exist and they all join a hive mind. There are however a group of people who are immune to this "virus". And our main character Carol here is one of these people. For me the idea itself is a deeply unsettling, terrifying one. There are a lot we don't know yet, but what I understand happened is: every mind just melted into one. But are you still conscious under that? I assume not because that would mean there is some kind of individuality after all but... what if you are?
To be on both sides is a terrible idea. To be a "survivor" is to be doomed to loneliness for the rest of your life. To be part of the hive mind is to not exist. Maybe I just can't even comprehend this but what if you didn't want to join the collective? Would your ideas be supressed or simply your mind would be killed and your body pupeteered by the rest?
There is also a moral question in this for me because if all of people melted into one... and I mean all. Then there are some really bad people amongst there. Killers, rapists so on so forth. What about their minds? Yes, the collective will of course choose to not use their "knowledge" or I am not sure how to phrase this better. But if it can supress these minds the ones who didn't want to join could just as easily be supressed and then not all is as happy as they make it seem.
Overall I love this series, even though I find it deeply unsettling. And it really makes you think. Truly unique plot and characters.
