Hollow Knight is an indie metroidvania developed by a small team: Team Cherry. There are so many reasons why this game is so great but if I had to say one it would be that it was made by 3 people out of love. It is truly just beautiful. Because this game is an indie metroidvania it can be pretty hard at times. It's platforming sections can also be challenging for newer players but it is definitely worth it in the end.
Hollow Knight originated from Hungry Knight which is a short game developed for a game jam.
Funny how this
game was rated 1/5 before Hollow Knight released whereas after, its rating grew to a 4/5. This game is pretty simple, not many know of its existence, the Knight
has to kill bugs to fight off starvation (in an Ultrakill-like style if I remember correctly). The container in the corner would fill with each kill and if it
emptied you'd lost the game because the Knight starved to death. But since it was a foundation for the game we know, you would still have to find and fight the
three dreams. It's interesting to note that this game was a top down perspective while Hollow Knight is a side perspective game.
